As the 223 shop lockout continues, several of the crew made a journey to the town of Bountiful to see a model train display in the town’s new museum. Our Chapter Vice President, Lee Secrist, was one of several men who constructed a model train display in the upper floor of the Bountiful Museum. It depicts a time period of the 1930’s and 40’s when an interurban called the Bamberger Railroad operated between Salt Lake City and Ogden, making stops at communities between the two cities. One key destination was Lagoon, an amusement park situated in Farmington, about half way between the two cities. The Bramberger carried passengers to enjoy the rides, games, swimming and picnics. The model railroad display has scenes representing downtown Bountiful and the midway of Lagoon with a highly detailed model of the wooden roller coaster, ferris wheel, merry-go-round and other attractions.
Making the trip on Saturday was Slim Jolley, Joshua Perry, Lee Witten, Vern Day, Steve Jones and his colleague visiting from Germany, Klaus Obermeier. Lee Secrist met us there along with other Bountiful museum volunteers.
