The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society (R&LHS), Golden Spike Chapter has been working on the restoration of the D&RGW narrow gauge locomotive 223 for many years. This restoration, and the preservation and protection of 223 is the primary mission of the Golden Spike Chapter. Locomotive 223 is an important historical artifact and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our plans were to hold an open house in the Trainman’s building at Ogden Union Station to share the work that we have completed with visitors during the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike.
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to schedule a public open house because Ogden City has locked the Golden Spike Chapter out of the Trainman’s building. If you would like to visit the Trainman’s building to see the progress on the 223 restoration, you will need to contact Ogden City. Send a message to Ogden City council and Mayor Caldwell firstname.lastname@example.org; email@example.com requesting to see the 223 restoration while you are visiting Ogden for the Spike 150 celebrations. Or, phone the appropriate officials https://www.ogdencity.com/directory.aspx.
